STATEMENT REGARDING COVID-19 AND SPRING EVENTS
A Note From Our Executive Director
Susan G. Komen Northwest Ohio® takes the health and safety of breast cancer patients and our supporters, volunteers and staff very seriously. We are closely monitoring the news of the novel Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) and the current state of cases found across the U.S., following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local health authorities.
Our hearts and thoughts go out to all who have been affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.
Out of an abundance of caution and to help stem the spread of this disease in our community, we have rescheduled our Power of the Promise event, which was to be held on Thursday, April 30, 2020. The event will now take place on Thursday, October 8, 2020. More details will follow in the coming weeks. All tickets already purchased and all sponsorships promised will be honored at the event in October.
We are also working with local authorities and are following available guidance as we explore all possible options for our future events. At this time, we anticipate that the Findlay and Toledo Race for the Cure events, currently scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26 and Sunday, Sept. 27, 2020, will proceed as planned.
Please email email@example.com or call 419-724-2873 with any questions.
If You Need Help
This is a fast-developing situation, but we want to assure you that our top concern is to save lives. Nothing is more important.
If you need breast health assistance at this time, please do not hesitate to contact the Komen Northwest Ohio office, although we encourage you to do so via email or phone. At this time, based on the CDC’s guidance for people who are at higher risk, we recommend that people living with breast cancer or who have a compromised immune system not attend any large gathering and stay home as much as possible.
We are committed to providing updates to you, your families and our volunteers as new information is available. Please check komennwohio.org for the latest guidance for those at a higher risk for complications from COVID-19.
Komen Northwest Ohio’s mission is to save local lives by meeting the most critical breast cancer needs in our community. Due to the economic realities of this situation already surfacing, we anticipate the need for breast health and breast cancer services in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan may soon increase. We appreciate your continued support.
Thank you for your patience and commitment to the fight against breast cancer as we respond to this evolving situation together.
