Every year the Susan G. Komen Northwest Ohio Race for the Cure® pays special tribute to a breast cancer survivor and an inspirational individual who lost their life to breast cancer. The “In Celebration Of” and “In Memory Of” tributes are a way for Susan G. Komen Northwest Ohio to recognize an inspirational individuals who have had a profound impact on those around them despite their breast cancer diagnosis.

In Celebration Of: A breast cancer survivor, current breast cancer patient, or someone living with metastatic breast cancer who lives with hope, lifts others up, and is passionate about the fight against breast cancer.

In Memory Of: An individual who has lost their battle to breast cancer but whose legacy continues to inspire those they knew.

Toledo Race Nominees should be from one of the following counties: Defiance, Erie, Fulton, Henry, Huron, Lucas, Ottawa, Paulding, Sandusky, Williams, and Wood in Ohio and Monroe County, Michigan.

Findlay Race Nominees should be from one of the following counties: Allen, Auglaize, Crawford, Hancock, Hardin, Logan, Mercer, Putnam, Seneca, Shelby, Van Wert, and Wyandot.


The honorees and their loved ones will be recognized throughout the Race for the Cure season, including at Survivor Breakfast in September, at Pink in the Park at Fifth Third Field (pending schedule), and at the Survivor Ceremony on Race Day. A press release will be issued and the announcement will be made on WTOL News 11.


The honorees will be selected by an independent panel in late May. Nominations must be completed by Friday, May 15, 2020. The honorees will be selected based on the quality of the information submitted rather than the quantity of nominations received. All nominators will be contacted once the decision has been made.
